Five Things That Happened on Chestnut

The city kept rearranging itself. We kept opening at 10:30 AM.

The Doors Open on Chestnut

Two brothers take over a narrow storefront near the corner of Fillmore. Chestnut Street is still mostly hardware stores, laundromats, and neighborhood bars.

The Ground Moves

Loma Prieta hits during the World Series, and the Marina takes the worst of it. Half the block goes dark for weeks. The grill comes back before the streetlights do.

The Neighborhood Changes Hands

The dot-com boom reaches Chestnut Street. Rents climb, storefronts turn over, and the block starts filling with names nobody recognizes. We stay put.

The Window Stays Open

Dining rooms close across the city. Orders move to the phone and the sidewalk. Regulars keep showing up, standing six feet apart on Chestnut.

Nice spot located on Chestnut. We sat outside and got to people and dog watch. The staff was super attentive and made sure we got what we wanted. Everything seemed super fresh and they had lots of protein and bean options to choose from. We got the enchilada+taco and double taco combo plates. Carnita was good, chicken was under seasoned. Partner and I agreed refried beans>pinto beans. Would stop in here if i was bar hopping, surprised they close early.

Generally this is the time where I would post a photo of the food, but I ate it so fast because it was absolutely amazing. The burritos are so large and delicious. You have to get the sauce when you order this burrito. There is minimal seating and is part of the ambience. Five stars

Probably my favorite Mexican spot in the whole bay area. Really affordable price point for the portion, also very delicious taste too. Staff are always friendly, lowkey and chill, makes me want to come back all the time. The only thing is it’s a tiny space only has 3 tables so better a take out spot. Highly recommended, if you crave for some delicious tasty authentic Mexican food!

Ordered the carne asada super burrito while walking around the neighborhood. This burrito will fill you up and feel satiated. They are really quick in making it! Only thing was the pinto beans needed a little salt but overall solid burrito.

After walking past Los Hermanos 100+ times I was pleasantly surprised & excited when I finally tried their burrito and found it to be pretty good! I got a carne asada super burrito. The meat is almost ground and is cooked in some sort of spicy sauce. The guac tasted fresh and the sour cream brightened it up. I wish that the burrito was served with salsa (on the side and with chips), will have to order that next time! Also, it's super clean inside and the guys who work there were friendly. All around a great find. Perfect for an easy week night meal.
